Most "eco-friendly" product recommendations online are either sponsored placements dressed up as reviews, or vague "sustainable" marketing language with no certification behind it. We started Ecoera to do the tedious part ourselves: actually checking whether a certification is real, whether a product holds up after months of daily use, and whether a brand's sourcing claims are verifiable — so you don't have to.
We buy the products we review. We use them for weeks before writing anything. And we maintain a strict no-paid-placement policy: brands cannot pay to appear in, or be elevated within, our rankings.
Ecoera is run by a small, independent team of buyers, each focused on a specific category. We're not a large editorial operation — we're a handful of people who test products ourselves and publish what we find.

Focuses on home cleaning, bedding, and energy-saving products, with an emphasis on verifying certification claims against manufacturer data.
Tests recycled and organic apparel for material durability, sizing consistency, and how well sustainability claims hold up after repeated washing.
Runs side-by-side tests of solid and plastic-free personal care products against their bottled equivalents for performance and longevity.
Tests garden tools and outdoor gear in real seasonal conditions, tracking material wear and certified sourcing claims over time.
We prioritise categories where "eco" marketing claims are common but hard to verify — this is deliberately the opposite of chasing whatever's trending. Every product we cover is scored using the Ecoera Score, a composite metric covering material and certification depth, verified sourcing, real-world durability, sales data, and aggregated user feedback.
